ASBA offers members several avenues for distributed leadership which builds the capacity of the Association from an elected official perspective. Trustees are involved in informing the decision-making process undertaken by the Board of Directors by participating in zone meetings, providing feedback through zone engagements or serving on an ASBA committee or as an ASBA representative on an external board or committee.
Members were engaged for feedback on ASBA’s Proposed 2024-2025 Budget and the long-term sustainability of the Association. This yielded valuable feedback and showcased a collective commitment in ensuring a sustainable future for ASBA.
The Association has several member-driven Standing and Ad-Hoc committees which are designed to enhance the expertise and leadership of both ASBA and trustees. They allow members to shape the direction of the Association now and for years to come.
In 2023, ASBA surveyed its members on website satisfaction which indicated challenges with user experience. In response, the Association completed a comprehensive redevelopment process which included a full website audit and in-depth one-on-one sessions with trustees on the initial redesign iteration.
As one of the top preferred member communication channels to access information about the Association and its services, this initiative highlighted ASBA’s responsivity to member needs, ensuring they can easily find the information they need, when they need it.
Sharing information about ASBA and its members through public channels, including social media and traditional media, is essential to achieving the Association’s goals of raising public awareness and maintaining a high level of public confidence.
By actively highlighting work, achievements and initiatives in support of its members, ASBA enhances public understanding of the Association and the critical role of locally-elected school boards as governors of the K-12 education system.
